Do you love cakes, cookies, fudge, ice cream or truffles? Me too! Are you transitioning to a healthy lifestyle and have no idea what you can eat? I was there once!

We all like sweets, you know that. Wait until you read the next sentence. You can eat treats and live a healthy lifestyle! I know, shocking right?

For some crazy reason, most people think that living healthy means eating grass. Where did that idea come from anyway? It’s simple, healthy food is made of healthy ingredients.

There are so many naturally healthy foods in this world that have flavor and texture and color! Healthy living is choosing to eat better. Living a healthy lifestyle does not require starving yourself or avoiding taste!

When transitioning from a Standard American Diet (SAD), especially with kids, you need to know what treats are good to keep at home. I try to live by these three rules:

  • Easy ingredients. Using ingredients that can be found in most stores is important. Not everyone can get to specialty stores.
  • Easy to make. Recipes should be easy to make for those parents and grandparents caring for children, running households and working.
  • Enjoyable. Bring on the flavor. Healthy treats should be satisfying enough to replace the bad, sugar-filled treats. When you find a healthy treat that makes you happy, toss the bad ones!
